A Two-Day programme of presentations, interactive discussions and Real time applications at the All India Seminar on Recent Trends in Renewable Energy sponsored by The Institution of Engineers (India) Kanchepuram Local Centre in collaboration with the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Jerusalem College of Engineering on 3rd & 4th of January, 2018.
During the inaugural session, Dr. S. Nagarajan, Prof& Head -EEE welcomed the gathering.
Dr .M. Ramalingam, Principal, Jerusalem College of Engineering presented the Inaugural address. The Guest of Honour Dr. M.A. Panneerselvam highlighted the need of the hour by his thought provoking speech, followed by a special address from Dr. S. Rama Reddy, Dean-Research and Convener of the seminar. Dr. Rajesh Katyal inaugurated the Seminar. His valuable address expressed the importance of Recent Trends in Renewable Energy sector. Dr. S.R.R. Senthil Kumar, Hon .Secretary, IE (I) - Kanchepuram Local Centre later on proposed vote of thanks. The main aim of the seminar was to know the importance and create an in-depth knowledge about Recent Trends in Renewable energy.
After the inaugural session, Dr. Rajesh Katyal, Deputy Director General, Group Head-WRA& Offshore, NIWE, Chennai, initiated the technical session. He threw some light on Wind Resource Assessments, techniques, scenarios and its applications. The second session was initiated by Mr. A. D. Thirumoorthy .He explained the challenges in Renewable Energy, and its integration to Grid .The third session was handled by Dr. S. Rama Reddy. He explained about power Electronics for wind Energy. Fourth session was handled by Dr. N. Booma on the topic Power quality issues in Renewable Energy.
The Fifth session was initiated on 4th January at 9:00 AM .Mr.G.Raja Ganesan explained about Solar PV technologies and its thrust areas. Sixth session was initiated by Mr.V.Suresh .He explained the Balancing needs for Large Scale integration of Renewable Generation. After Lunch, Mr. N. Vedhachalam from NIOT gave a session on India's Paris Commitments and Solar energy Avenues. Eighth session was handled by Mr.S.Selva Kumar who dealt with Isolated and Grid connected using PV system. The entire day was buzzing with activities and interactive sessions which provided a hands-on experience on solar plant design.
The Valedictory was started by 4.45pm. Dr. S. Nagarajan, Prof& Head –EEE presented the Welcome address. Dr. R. Venkatesan, Chairman, IEI Kanchepuram Local Centre gave the presidential address and explained about IE (I), its various programs aimed for the development of students and opportunities that IEI presents to its members. Followed by him, Dr. S.Rama Reddy addressed the gathering. Ms. Kuzhaloli, A.P from Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala R&D institute of Science and Technology, Chennai and Mr. A.S Viswanathan from SCSVMV, Kanchepuram presented the Feedback about All India Seminar on Recent Trends in Renewable Energy. The Certificates were distributed at 5.00 PM by Dr. R Venkatesan, Chairman, IEI Kanchepuram Local Centre .The response from the participants were tremendous and their enthusiasm lasted until last session.
